Dentalcare Foundation is pleased to organize the Ekiti Dental Art Competition 2020. We want to hear from young people independent of whether they're in school or not on what oral health means to them .All entries important and all voices matter. Theme: My Smile, My Pride Our goal is to foster oral health awareness while stirring up creativity in children. 9 winners will emerge from this competition and will be given gifts
Low oral health awareness is a major problem among children in Nigeria and when there is low oral health awareness, there is a direct effect on the illness seeking behaviour of the individual and population. People are not well informed about steps to take both in preventing as well as treatment of these diseases. There is subsequent underutilization of oral health facilities and late presentation at the clinic with resultant complications. This affects the overall health status.
This competition is an opportunity for us to promote and educate our local community about the importance of good oral health. The best time to learn good oral hygiene habits is in early childhood, so this year we are running this art competition to raise awareness and help children get excited about oral health. One of the most influential ways we help improve oral health is by running public-facing campaigns that spread positive messages about the importance of a healthy smile.
Increase oral health awareness which in turn increases oral health status in children.
