We are fundraising to bring together the voices of young people with foster care experience from around the world so that they can meet, learn from each other and be globally heard. With your help, youth from foster care can become financially enabled to attend international events on foster care in order to change outcomes for their peers worldwide.
For youth in care, it is critical to be active participants in their lives. Their knowledge in transition from care to independence proves valuable if positive experiences are shared with others to help them achieve the same. Yet too often, participation in the international events imposes a considerable financial barrier to foster youth. Young people also face additional challenges due to the isolation they feel being away from families and others like them facing out of home placements.
For over thirty years, young people in care have witnessed opportunity for getting their voices heard through regional and international conferences by the International Foster Care Organisation. Funding young people's participation in 2016 European and 2017 World Conferences will provide them with an opportunity to share common practices, discuss their lives, experiences, and futures, to make meaningful connections and to advocate for change.
Meeting other foster youth and decision makers for change and support is an opportunity that every care leaver should deserve. Your donation will give a global voice to young people in care and increase the mental wellness of the careleavers who are able to participate at the IFCO 2016 and 2017 Conferences.
